School Calendar
6 Week Sessions
Our school year is divided into 6 six-week sessions (three per semester), with a "mini-session" occurring during the last three days of the school year. Sessions range between 25 and 31 days long. Grades are posted at the end of each session.
Each session is independent, which allows students a “fresh-start” every six weeks.
Most classes are not sequential, with the exception of the Math curriculum.
Students will work with their Family Teachers to choose classes for each session.
Class Schedule
We offer classes from 7:55 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. including 8 class periods with flexible start times.
Students must take a minimum of 6 consecutive classes, plus Family, and are not allowed to have off periods.
Students may add class periods for a following session based on their academic performance and conferencing with their Family Teacher.
Students will confer with their Family Teacher and choose their classes based on credits needed for graduation, ability level, personal interest, and chosen career path.
Students may choose from the following start times:
- 7:55 (with a 2:10 departure time)
- 8:50 (with a 3:05 departure time)
- 9:45 (with a 4:00 departure time)
Students may choose a different start time when registering for their next session classes.
Closed Campus
Colorado's Finest is a closed campus, meaning that once students have entered the building they are expected to go to each of their classes and are not allowed to leave until exiting for the day.
Students are not allowed to leave campus during the lunch period.
If a student chooses to leave campus during their scheduled school day, they will not be allowed to return for the remainder of that day, but may attend classes normally the following school day.
Permission to leave the building may be granted for students attending off-campus classes, if a parent/guardian signs them out for an appointment, or may retrieve an item from their car with Office approval. At no time should students go to their car without office approval.
If a student is running late (ie scheduled for a 1st period class, but not arriving until 2nd period) they can still attend their remaining classes for the day, but will need to make up the work for any missed class.
Lunch
Arriving Early
The front doors open each morning at 7:30 for students with a 1st Period class and remain open through 2nd period.
Breakfast is served in the morning and most mornings the gym is open between 7:30 and 7:50.
Students with a 2nd or 3rd period start time should arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before their scheduled class.
Students arriving for a 3rd period start will usually have to ring the bell for entry.
