Graduation Requirements

In order to graduate from Colorado's Finest, students must meet both Credit Requirements and Proficiencies. Student's graduate from Finest once all points and proficiencies are complete and do not have to attend their classes through the end of the day, session, or school year.

The following Proficiencies must be completed by each student prior to graduating from Colorado's Finest. Most of them can be completed in classes students will take at Finest or with support from staff.

Box Sheets

The Box Sheet is a visual representation of credit (converted to points) for students and staff to use for academic advisement and class choice.

Each "box" on a Box Sheet represents 25 points.

The Box Sheet is updated after each session for students to track progress towards graduation.

When all boxes are "full" in a category, such as American Literature in the example below, the overflow (excess) points are automatically moved to help fill other categories. For example, American Literature overflows to English Elective, which overflows to Academic Elective, which overflows to General Electives.

Overflowing credit allows a student to continue to take additional courses in a category they are interested in and still receive points/credits towards graduation.

The Box Sheet is not a transcript. Official transcripts are printed from Infinite Campus using credits instead of points.

The credit total used to calculate points comes directly from Infinite Campus each session

after grades are posted.

Graduation Calculator

Teachers, Counselors, and Students use the Graduation Calculator tool to project and graduation plan. This tool allows students to understand the point system and how their individual actions can speed up or slow down their progress.

Students update the information in the blue fields and the calculator provides them possible graduation timeframe.

Students have the ability to change the factors based on the number of classes they take, percentage of points earned, updated points remaining, etc.

The number in each box represents how many points are remaining for the student at the completion of each session.

The first purple box represents the session it is estimated the student will graduate within.

Finest Future Plan

The counselors meet with each of the students on their caseload to complete a Finest Future Plan. These plans, along with the Box Sheet and Graduation Calculator, allow staff to work with students on setting and achieving both short and long-term educational goals.

The information on a student's plan is regularly reviewed and updated by the student, counselor, and Family Teacher to help the student review their academic progress in achieving their goals, or to update goals as school and career interests update or are changed.
