Barber Crossover Program (Cosmetology to Barber)

In accordance with Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) licensure requirements, a student who has successfully completed the Cosmetology Program may enroll in the Barber Crossover Program to complete the additional ninety (90) clock hours required for barber licensure.

The Barber Crossover Program consists of coursework not included in the cosmetology curriculum and fulfills the following required barber content areas:

  • BAR 1007 – Introductory Shaving, Honing, and Stropping

  • BAR 1008 – Intermediate Shaving, Honing, and Stropping

  • BAR 2007 – Advanced Shaving, Honing, and Stropping

“Per Colorado Revised Statutes § 12-105-111. Upon verification of program completion, students will be granted 1,410 clock hours of prior learning credit based on their official Cosmetology Record of Completion issued by Colorado’s Finest Salon & Spa Academy, as permitted by DORA rules.

The Barber Crossover Program is offered immediately following completion of the Cosmetology Program. Enrollment must occur at that time, and students are not eligible to return in subsequent years to complete crossover barber coursework.

Schedule:

Mandatory classes will be held during the summer session after second year of cosmetology is completed.

Class days are as follows;

  • June 1, 2026 - June 4, 2026
  • June 8, 2026 - June 11, 2026
  • June 15. 2026

Class times

  • Monday-Thursday 7:30 AM-5:30 PM.

Course Fees: $125

  • $125 personal equipment and consumables
  • For those who are licensing, $25 board exam kit.

You’ll learn the general principles of shaving with a straight razor to include hair texture, grain of the beard and analysis of the skin along with cutting strokes.

Gain hands-on experience practicing the fundamentals of the field, as well as relationship building, time management, retailing and successful communication.
