When I was a sophomore in high school, I started thinking seriously about my future and discovered the cosmetology industry. I completed my training while I was still in high school. To say that I loved school would be a bit of an exaggeration, but I knew there was something special about this industry.

It wasn't until I began working behind the chair in the real world—not the school salon—that I truly found my passion.

Like many students, I took all those "required" classes and wondered if I would ever use any of that information. Fast forward 25 years, and here I am explaining the difference between hair color and haircolor to my students (thank you, English teachers!). I'm also teaching the difference between a 90-degree angle and a 180-degree angle and how to hold their hands in those exact positions. Turns out, math really does matter!

One of the things I love most about cosmetology is that it combines creativity, science, business, communication, math, and artistry all into one amazing career. Every day is different, every client is unique, and there is always something new to learn.

I feel incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to watch students grow from curious beginners into confident professionals. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing someone discover their talents, build their confidence, and take the first steps toward a career they love.
